This car is from an era in which RWBs took months to be finished. The owners knew when they were dropping the car at the HQ, but not when it would be finished. Unlike nowadays, many choices were made by Nakai-san himself, even the color.
This is an excerpt from the original owner’s blog:
Right now, my car is at a certain shop being built into a widebody version… And today, paint was applied… but I still don’t know what color it is (￣Д￣;)
Late at night, I called them:
Me: “Are you painting it today?” Nakai-san: “Ohhh, you figured it out—yeah, we’re painting it today!”
Actually, the color was mostly left up to them… it’s a surprise…
Then I got a call (11:30 PM):
Nakai-san: “Hey, we just painted the bumper… and it’s insane—this color is so cool!!”
Me: “Seriously!? Can you send me a photo?”
Nakai-san: “Nope~ I won’t tell you! Check the blog tomorrow morning!”
Me: “WHAAAT (ﾟДﾟ;ﾉ)ﾉ……”
Nakai-san: “It’s a color we’ve never done before! Seriously looks amazing—haha!”
Me: “Huh? Why are you laughing?”
Nakai-san: “No, no—it’s just really cool! Trust me!”
Basically, they were teasing me on purpose and enjoying it…
So I’m now waiting for the RWB blog update… and I can’t sleep…
And this is the blog post on Nakai-san’s blog from the following day:
The caption roughly translates to “Painting complete? It’s a secret.” - quite a teaser :)
As opposed to the usual “Sekund/Zweite Entwicklug”, this one has “Der Dritte Schlag”, which roughly translates to “Third Impact” under the RWB logo on the engine cover.
